Indian Civilization and Culture

'Indian Civilization and culture' is an essay that show the ideas of Mahatma Gandhi about the Indian Civilization and culture.He compares the Indian or the ancient civilization with the western or the modern civilization. He says that Indian Civilization develops morality while western civilization spreads immorality. Our civilization can teach the world. therefore, we need not copy the  western civilization. Our ancestors advised us to maintain distance from the use of machinery because the 'use off machinery may paralyze or hands and feet. They suggested resisting our wants to lead a happy life. Our civilization is still alive while the other civilization of the world died. Therefore, in gandhiji words if we want our India to rise and shine. We should always value the glory and dignity of our civilization and culture. There is no match for it in his world where  a mad rush materials has dead the mind of people.

THE SOLDIER

Rupert Brooke

RUPERT BROOKE (1887-1915) was born in a well-to-do academic  family. His father was a housemaster at Rugby School, Where Rupert was educated before going to King's housemaster at Rugby School, where Rupert was educated before going to King's College Cambridge. W.B. Yeats, the famous poet described him as 'the handsomest. W.B.Yeats, the famous poet described his as ' as handsomest young man in England."He assumed a symbolic role that eventually turned into the myth of a young and beautiful fallen warrior. He died of septicaemia on April 23, 1915, off the island of Lemnos in the Aegean on his way to a battle at Gavipoli. Brooke is remembered as a 'war poet' who inspired patriotism in the early phase of the First World War. His reputation chiefly rests on five war sonnets of which 'The so;dier' is undoubtedly the best and the most anthologised.

W.H.Auden

WYSTAN HUGH AUDEN (1907-1973),who won the Pulitzer Prize in 1948 for his collection The Age of Anxiety, was a versatile and intellectually vigorous poet,verse dramatist,critic,translator and editor. Poetry to him was a 'serious game' which should deepen people's self awareness but it should, in no case, directly affect men's political or religious choices. His early poems his interest in political affairs and ideas but his later poems are overtly Christian and more personal in tone. As a technician, Auden explored a variety of stanza forms and Meters. He had a passion for word-coining and using archaic words, which makes him, at times,difficult to understand. He left English as early as 1939 to settle permanently in the United States. Auden's work is divided into the British and American phases. The Notable works of the English phase are The Orators, The Dance of Death of death, Look Stranger, Spain, and Another Time. The notable works of the American phase include New Year Letter, for the Time Being, The Age of Anxiety, and The Shield of Achilles.

WEST BANGAL RABINDRANATH TAGORE

Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941), the recipient of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913,was one of the greatest lyric poets of the world. He was also a noted dramatist, novelist, short story writer, philosopher, humanist, nation-builder and founder of an international university at Shantiniketan, He wrote primarily in Bangla, but rendered a large number of his own works into English, and in the process wrote them anew. Such works include Gitanjali., The Crescent Moon, and The Gardener. His other important works include Gora, The Wreck The Post Office, Sadhana and The Home and the World. 'Where the mind is without Fear', a lyric taken from Gitanjali, is one of his best-remembered patriotic poems. It is a prayer to God to awaken the country from darkness and slavery into a state of ideal freedom. The whole poem is a single complex sentence whose principal clause is the last line.

Jawahar Lal Nehru 

Jawahar Lal Nehru (1889-1964), India's First Prime Minister was popular among the children as 'Chacha Nehru'. He was a man of rare sensitivity Educated at Harrow and Cambridge University, he became a barrister after studying Natural Science and law and returned to India in 1921. Deeply influenced by Mahatma Gandhi, he joined Indian politics and soon emerged as a Leader of the country's youth.
